I got some very disappointing news today in Chemo. My doctor informed me that I have to have seven more treatments! That's seven more weeks. My last one will be April 10th. I was devastated! The reason is when I initially had my plan of care presented it was on a 3 week cycle and off the 4th week at higher dosages of chemo for 18 weeks. But, my MD changed it to every week at lower dosages for 24 weeks. A total of 6 cycles. I didn't realize that the duration had changed until I was told today. So, there ya go....don't have a choice, just gotta do what I gotta do. WHAAAA :(
He said with the type of cancer I have/had that the protocol is 6 to 9 cycles and he chose 6 for me because I have no other health issues etc. So, I guess it could be worse. He said a month after I get finished he'll do a PET scan to check my status and then go from there.
So, guess I'll be asking you all to hang in there with me a little longer. Thank you for your support and thoughtfulness. I'll keep pushing along as usual and try to stay as healthy as possible in the meantime. My blood work was great today, lets hope it stays that way! NO MORE SET BACKS!!!!!! ONWARD BOUND MATES!
