New Year New Start

December 31, 2007 to January 31, 2008 (DAYS 128 to 159)

Rand and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary on December 31. We've actually been together for 3 years. Seems much longer than that to us though. A lot has happened in our short time together. Bought and sold 2 houses. Had 2 kids at home who are now moved out. Both of us have changed jobs a couple of times. Have bought 3 dogs, but lost one. Went through a period that we shared full responsibility for our two grandchildren with the maternal grandmother. And then the biggie...me being diagnosed with Cancer. 2007 was a challenging year. 2008 is going to be great! I've already decided.

This month I've been dealing with the cumulitive effects of my chemo. Increased weakness and overall malaise. Somedays, it's a chore just to get from the bed to the couch. Taking a shower is very taxing. When I'm finished, I collapse on the bed for a 15 minute recovery.

When I look in the mirror I don't see myself anymore, which is quite sad. My hair continues to fall out. I look like a mangy dog. My skin is terribly dry.

I'm working part-time and love my job. Thank goodness, I do a lot of my work from my home office. The company I work for is a local, privatly-owned case management company. The owner, Mary and my supervisor, Donna, have been awesome. Mary Salerno, I salute you! She hired me knowing my diagnosis and the fact I was in the middle of treatment. She and the rest of the Salerno crew have been so supportive and I am so blessed! We call ourselves the "Sisterhood" and it certainly feels that way!
