Bridge Crossings and Birthdays

October 29 to 31, 2007 (DAY 65 to 67)

October 29, 2007 (Day 65)

Off to the lab for blood work. I'm feeling better today. Still not up to par, but better. My stomach still hurts and I'm weak with just a blah feeling. I'm thankful I'm past the bad part. Saturday, I entered the gates of hell. Sunday, I was in pergatory. Today, I'm on Earth, but on shaky ground. My appetite is poor, of course. I'm keeping a positive attitude. Sun in my face, fresh air consuming and love in my heart. Thankful for this day. I’ve now crossed the proverbial bridge into the unknown territory of chemoland. I’m exploring. I’m experiencing. I’m living.

Our son Tanner's 21st Birthday...and I feel GREAT!

Rand meets with Tanner after work for some Dad time. He presented him with a plaque that expresses what it is to be a man. Written by some famous author "KIPLING" or something like that. Very profound, but I told Rand he should have written something himself because he is the epitomy of a great and honorable man.
Rand wanted to buy Tanner his first "legal" beer. It's a guy thing.

I met up with them later in the evening to do the Mom thing. A cupcake with a candle, the birthday song that has been passed down from my paternal Grandmother's side of the family. From Norway..."Today is your birthday, that's what I've been told, what a wonderful birthday you're 21 yrs old. I've a cake and a candle all lighted for you, and the whole world is singing Happy Birthday to you!"

We asked Tanner what his goals were for this year. I think he said something like climbing Mount Kilimangaro. I asked him if he could wait until next year as we are planning this as a family outing...guess he'll have to travel the national parks in the meantime.
